      CP319  Turkoman 'Serapi'

(5'-0" X 6'-9")        196 knots/s.i.
Afghanistan - Late 20th Century

While the main design element is similar to the antique Persian Serapi carpets, most of the border designs and, certainly, the weave techniques and quality are Turkoman in origin. Rich, natural dyes were used on lustrous qurt wool pile. The warp is a very delicate Belgian wool and the weft is karaqul wool. These carpets were commonly called 'Bilchiq' because of the origins of the wool used in the warp.

Every Oriental rug, carpet or weaving presented here is guaranteed to satisfy the purchaser or a refund will be made upon return  of the purchased item(s) to our location in Ashland, OR 97520.
