A rare find these days...this is a small carpet made for the bridal couple to stand on while being blessed with their sacred vows of marriage. Most likely from North-eastern Iran, it shows a tree-of-life in each 'rectangle', a stylized leaf and wine cup border, along with traditional guls and border patterns. All  Handspun wools were used, along with natural/vegetal dyes, producing a wonderful folk-art piece. The side cords are wrapped with goat's hair and the weft is wool; warp cotton.
